Utah Celtic FC and University of Utah alum Carly Nelson was traded to the Utah Royals today, making her one of two Utah Celtic FC alumni in Utah's NWSL team.


Carly Nelson graduated from Timpanogos in 2016 and played club for Utah Celtic FC throughout her club career. Her team won five straight UYSA State Cup titles and was a finalist at Regionals.


She played at the University of Utah where she made 273 career saves and had 18 career shutouts. In 2020, she signed with OL Reign before making the move to the KC Current. She spent 18 months in Denmark with FC Nordsjælland. She then signed with the Orlando Pride in January 2023.


Carly joins fellow Utah Celtic FC alum Cameron Tucker at the Utah Royals, who will begin their second stint as an NWSL club in 2024.
